Toby's New Life (PIG-topia snippet)
The light shone like a lifting breeze over the frosty horizen. There was a distinct crispness about the air that filled my lungs with new life.
Was this what it meant to be alive?
My eyes squinted as I stared into the vast desert of ice - spring was sure to come soon. Although you could never be sure, not with the way things were. But that didn't matter, the world was beautiful despite the evident collapse of society all around me. Instead of deep despair, I felt eternal relief.
The ultimate escape from my imprisonment - those endless nights of hard work for nothing. Years of schooling to only meet constant failure and regret. They had all been wiped away in one blow.
I swore to myself it'd never return to school again, even if society returned to it's previous life-gripping state.
The thought made me shiver.
My eyes wandered over to a forming shape in the horizen - a place the merchants called, "Fort Faraday". I knew the place, I also knew what it was named after and who exactly had named it.
My heart began to ache and suffication began to consume me. A feeling of guilt tinged at the corner of my heart - I felt afraid.
Would going to Fort Faraday mean another open trap for my soul?
The wind made a soothing loop around me, it seemed as if I had celebrated life too soon. It was time to discover the truth, something I had avoided considering for a very long time.
The answers were at Fort Faraday.
